The Hopcalite catalyst, alternatively referred to as the carbon monoxide (CO) elimination catalyst, is formulated by combining a precise ratio of MnO2 and CuO through a blend of bonding, mixing, and mechanical processing techniques. This catalyst appears as black or dark brown columnar particles, measuring either 1.1mm or 3mm in diameter. Its primary function is to remove CO by oxidizing carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide.
The Hopcalite catalyst, produced by Hunan Xintan, exhibits exceptional catalytic capabilities, facilitating the rapid and efficient reaction between CO and O2 within a temperature range of 20~200℃. This catalyst efficiently converts CO into CO2, boasting characteristics such as superior efficiency, high catalytic activity, energy conservation, extended service life, and cost-effective maintenance. - Applications
A) Gas Masks: Fire sites generate significant amounts of carbon monoxide gas. The Hopcalite catalyst (CO removal catalyst) can be integrated into the filter layer of gas masks, effectively converting CO into CO2. This prevents excessive CO absorption by the body and subsequent poisoning.
B) Refuge Chamber: Given the typically high humidity levels within refuge chambers, the use of CO-removing catalysts requires prior installation of a desiccant at the catalyst’s air inlet. This ensures that the air containing water vapor passes through the desiccant first, effectively absorbing and filtering out the water vapor. Subsequently, the dry air is directed through the Hopcalite catalyst layer, facilitating the catalysis of CO gas into CO2.
C) Treatment of High-Purity Gases: During the production of gases with high purity, such as N2 and O2, trace amounts of CO are generated. The Hopcalite catalyst (CO removal catalyst) is capable of removing CO at low temperatures, maintaining a working lifespan of at least 2 years.

B) Conditions for Regeneration: The catalyst can undergo regeneration at temperatures ranging from 150-200℃.

Additionally, it is advisable to maintain the humidity of the working environment below 10%. Elevated humidity levels can diminish the catalyst’s effectiveness and shorten its lifespan. In cases where humidity exceeds 10%, the use of a desiccant is recommended.
